WORKS COMMITTEE. The Masterton Borough Council met as a Works Committee last eyeniug. i The Mayor, presided, and there were also present—Crs J. H. Pauling, James Elliott, F. W. Temple, T. G., Hoar, J. C. Ewiugton E. McEwen, and E. G. Eton. '

l't was decided to refund to Mr G. Bruntoo, of Wrigley Street, the sum of 8s Cd, which he had expended on clearing the drain in the street in front of his residence. An account for £l7 10s from the Valuer-General, for revising the Borough valuation roil, was referred back for further particulars.

Accounts amounting to £230 i2s 5d ware passed for payment. It wr.s deckled to procure four new lamps for Pine Street, and tho remainder of the Engineer's report, pertaining to street lighting, was held over until the estimates for the incoming year were considered. The Engineer was instructed to report to the next meeting of the Committee on the cost of laying the drainage along the road, about to be constructed, from Powuall Street through the Renalland Cole Estates. It was decided to place two urinals in the borough, one in Hall Street, on the kerb of the footpath, facing the battery room of the Post Office, and the other on the south side of Perry at the cornet of Chapel Street,
