The Westlaud Oouaty Council has decided to actively support the proposal to establish an experimental agricultural farm in W®stland, with neoessary out-statioos in the district. and to urge the Minister for Agriculture to undertako the matter as soon as possible. Kegistrars of licensing districts have received instructions that at the Licensing Committee elections no "absent voters" permits are to be used, as the provision for these permits does not apply to Licensing Committee elections. The rolls used will he thoae used for the recent general elections, together with any names added up to the 19th inst. The proposal to hold a Labour Conference having fallen through (says the Otago Daily Times), Mr J. P. Arnold, M.H.R., who has taken an active interest in Labour matters for ma-iy years, intends to visit different carts of the country districts in order to meet farm labourers and general labourers and discuss with them questions affecting their interests. At the Feilding S.M. Court, yesterday, W. T. Hook, licensee of the Denbigh Hotel, was fined 40s and costs, f'J ISs Gi, for permitting drunkenness ou the premises. The defence was that the man received no drink in the hotel, but came there from another hotel. The Bench ruled that the fact of being fouud druuk on the premises is sufficient to convict.
