A SATISFACTORY LOAN. .Received February 13, 8.57 a.m. LONDON, February 12. The subscriptions to the New South Wales 3}£ per cent, loan of two millions have closed. The public subscribed tbe whole amount. THE CASE OF W. N. WILLIS. NATAL "A SANOIUARY." Received February 13, 10.52 p.m. SYDNEY, February 13. Tbe Government have received confirmation of W. N. Willis's dismissal, which was on tbe ground that there was no evidence showing that the Magistrate bad powers similar to a Bow Street Magistrate. There was no looal statute giving the Magistrate special jurisdiction under the Fugitive Offenders 'Act. Tbe decision is far-reaching, and creates a sanctuary in Natal for fugitives from justice until fresh legislation is passed. ATTEMPT TO WRECK A TRAIN. Received February 13, 10.52 p.m. SYDNEY, February 13. An attempt was. made to wreck the Sydney-Moreo mail train. ' A quantity of fettlers' tools and two packages of gelignite were placed on the rails. Tbe train exploded tbe gelignite, and broke the springs of the engine, but otherwise the train was undamaged.
