COMMERCIAL.

+ ALFREDTON AND EKETAHUNA STOCK SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale at Alfredton on Thursday, aud Eketahuna on Friday. Although over 1,000 sheep came forward at Alfredton fully 1,000 were prevented from being yarded owing to the swollen creoks and rivers (these, however, will be at the next Alfredton salo on Tuesday, 27th instant). The entry comprised sbaop of all classes, every line selling readily under the hammer, there being a brisk demand for good , breeding ewea and wethers, and a very fair inquiry for lambs. Twotooth wethers sold from 13s 2d to 13a 7d, breeding ewes 8s lOd to 12b Bd, shorn lambs 6s 6d to 8s 9d. At Eketahuna about 1,200 sheep were yarded, all selling but two lines

of ewes. Wethers were in good demand, a record for the season being made "with a pen of two-tooths, ou account of Messrs Welch Bros., which sold at 14s 7d, others to 13s lid, two-tooths ewes and wethers 12b sd. As there was no rape-grown present, lambs were a little easier, best shorn selling to 8s 3d, culls from 5s 7d. There was a fair yarding of cattle, all lines selling with one exception, though at low rates. Two and a-half year steers reached £2 12s Gd, 3-year steers (mixed colours) £3, yearling steers 39s 6d to £2, calves 7s to 17s for good sorts, springing cows £3 2s Gd, fat cows £4 10s; pony mare and foal £7 10s; sliij pigs lis. The next Eketahuna Bhle will b°> held on Monday, 26th instant, the Mastertou Karri Fair interfering with the regular date of this and the Alfredton sale.
