MISSION BUILDINGS BURNED BY A MOB. Received February 9, 10.25 p.m./' PEKIN, February 9. A Chinese mob burned the English Presbyterian Church, hospital, and mission buildings at Changahafu. The missionaries escaped. THE WITHDRAWAL OF FOREIGN TROOPS. DEPENDS ON CHINA'S ATTITUDE. Received February 10, 12.7 a.m. LONDON, February 9. Owing to foreign residents in China strongly opposing the withdrawal of European troops, the Powers, excepting Germany, havo re-opened the question, and the withdrawal will depend upon the Chinese attitude towards foreigners for the next few months.

Besides demanding that Russia shall fix the date of tbe withdrawal of the Railway Guards, and the evacuation of Harbin and the relinquishment of lands and mines seized in Manchuria, China requires the re payment of five million taels, which she contributed to the capital of the Russo-Chinose bank. (The tael is a definite weight of silver, equal to 1.230z troy, and accordingly varies in value as silver varies. The sterling value of the Haikuan or Customs tael is now about 3s).
