AMERICAN INSURANCE COMPANIES.
Received February 5, 9.51 p.m. NEW YORK, Februarys. The Legislative Committee, set up to make inquiries, has submitted a drastic report tor the reform of America') insurance companies, and has recommended an annual dividend and settlement of claims within 30 days of proof, tbe curtailment of extravagant salaries, reform in investments, and fair v ballot for offices. Publicity is demanded in order to secure polioy-holders against devious management and subterfuge. The companies are, also, forbidden to control subsidiary companies.
