EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.

BLENHEIM, February 3. The total for the fortieth week of the New Zealand Egg laying Competition is 1,657, and the grand total is 72,744. The highest layings are: —Brooks' White Leghorns, South Australia, 31: Aldridge's White Leghorns, Blenheim, 30; Hickman's Brown Leghorns, Calcairn, 30. The order of merit in the grand agregate is:—Leger, of of South australia, 1.048; Marlborough A. and P. Association, 1,022; Jonathan Hodgson, Blenheim, 998: Mick Shaw, Blenheim, 996; Hockey's Brown Leghorns, Nelson, 955. All except latter peDS are ,white Leghorns, and the moulting birds are prooeedin4 satisfactorily.
