THE EXHIBITION.

CHRISTCHURCH, February 2,

The weekly review of the progress of the New Zealand International Exhioition states that arrangements have been mado by the High Commissioner for the Colony to co-oper-ate with the Loudon offices of the New Zealand Shipping Company and the Shaw Savill and Albion Company in the matter of advertising the Exhibition. The work of erect ins* the main building of the Exhibition and the Art Gallery is proceeding rapidly, and both contractors are taking the fullest advantage of the prevailing favourable weather. The damage done by the recent gale has all been rectified, and the debris cleared away. The visitors to the Exhibition grounds will note considerable increase in the work recently accomplished. At a meeting of the Finance Committee, held on Ihe 24th ult., it was decided to recommend the Executive Commissioners to donate a trophy as an inducement to the holding of a cycling championship during the period of the Exhibition. It has been arranged that a Fire Brigade international display and kindred sports shall be held in the Exhibition grounds on a date to be fixed later on. Mr Scott, official representative of the- New Zealand International Exhibition in Australia, in an interview with the Hon. T. Bent, Premier of Viotoria, ascertained that the Government proposed applying for 500 feet of fi oor space as a Victorian court, and that a commission would be appointed to represent the State and the exhibitors. The Agricultural and Mines Depaitment, as well as the Wine Associations, will be represented. Mr Scott also stated that South Australia is to be well represented, and tnat New South Wales has appointed Mr Anderson, head of the Intelligence Department, as a Commissioner to make all the necessary arrangements for the proper representation of the resources of New South Wales.
