FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE.
NELSON, January 31.
At the Fire Brigades' Conference the report of the Committee, that Lieutenant Braddon, of Hokitika, was the only one of the many applicants entitled to a star for twentyfive years' service, was adopted. The annual vote of £5 to the Association's paper and £6O to the Secretary w&s passed. It was dwoicted to telegraph to Superintendent Huso, of Wellington, that the delegates will reach Wellington on Friday. They will be entertained there by thai officer. The Executive was asked to request the Government to place some restriction on the use of flannelette. Votes of thanks were passed to the Nelson and Richmond Brigades for the handsome treatment meted out to the delegates, and to the Government for services rendered. Mr Ballinger, President} in closing the Conference hoped that there would be a large mueter at Cbrißfcchuroh next year.
