TINUI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
TINUI, January 29.
It was very pleasing to read in the Wairarapa Age, to day, that Miss May JohnstOD, eldest daughter of Mr J. Johnston, bad won a" Wellington Education Board Scholarship, and the performance is ali the more creditable to hor when in is taken into consideration that she was unable to attend her studies for three months last winter through illness. The scholarship is the first to be won by a pupil from our local school, and the pupil's success reflects great credit on the headmaster, Mr Sutton, who coached the young lady. The young lady in question is a general favourite, and therefore it is needless to say Mr and Mr Johiiton and thoir daughter are receiving numerous congratulations.
A polo match will be played here next Saturday afternoon, commencing at 3 p.m., between a team from Mataikona aud the Tinui team. The match ia expected to draw a large ci-owd of spectators.
