CRIMINAL STATISTICS.
OHRISTOHUROH, January 29. Police returns for 1905, for Canterbury and the North Otago dlstrlofe show the total number of offences reported as 3,560, as against 3,913 for the preceding year. The total number of persons apprehended and. summoned wa9 3,438. There were decreases for all the most serious offences, and fnr drunkenness, in whioh class the number of offences reported ,was 1,537, aa against 1,889 during 1904,1
