"A REMARKABLE LETTER."
(To the Editor). Sir,—The letter over the signature of "Resident," in your Saturday's issue is a very remarkable one. What does "Resident" mean by accusing our rich men of selfishness? Why look at the money given to the Y.M.C.A; look at the splendid building provided; look at the amounts paid constantly in subscriptions for all sorts of beneficial purposes; and look, too, at the many and valuable gifts of our worthy Mayor (Mr Renall); and then can any unprejudiced person say we are a selfish lot of people.—l am, etc., DISGUSTED. Masterton, January 29th, 1906.
