Mr W. Rose reports as follows: During the past fortnight I Lave been very busy, having held a sale every day during that period, 'l'he stock salts held are as follow: January 15th.—Woodville. Every on.e.being very busy with their hay. there was very little stock yarded and the attendance was poor. January 20th.—I held nay opening sale at Norsewood. There was a large yarding of cattle, ana buyers were present from all parts of the district, consequently a rattling good sale eventuated and with the exception of one oi two lines everything was sold under the hammer at satisfactory prices. Before the next sale, February 19th, it is my in tent on to have better yarding acooing modation. On the 24th, I held Mr Ranby's clearance sale at Tipapakuku. The competition for the dairy herd was very keen, the cow? averaging over £5 per head. Taking into consideration the time of the season, this must be considered to be very good. All th 3 other stock sold readily, being in tip-top condition. At Dannevirko yesterday I had a big yarding of cattle and a fair yarding of sheep and pigs. Young cattle which were showing any qual ity were eagerly sought after. For older cattle the bidding was at times dull. After the sale I cleared a number of lines which were not sold under the hammei\ 1 quote as follows: Sheep—Fat ewes 14s, woolly lambs 7s Id. Cattle—Fat cows £4 to £5 7s 6d, 2to steers £3 10s, 18months 9teers £2 Is, 3 >£ -year-old steers £5, springing he'fers £3 10s to £4 ss, forward empty cows £2 11a to £3 10s, yearlings 35s to £2 7s, weaners lis to £l. Pigs—Weaners 12s, porkers 23a 6d, porkers (big) 28s.
