THE ELECTIONS. THREE BROTHERS EETURNED. LONDON, January 25. Messrs Devliu aud M'Hugh have eacb been returned for two places. Tbe Rev. Sir James Erasmus Phillips, the aged Piebendary of Salisbury Cathedral, had three sons contesting seats, all of whom are elected. Purthnr results of tbe elections are announced as follows: Seats have beer won from tbe Conservatives by the following Liberal candidates:—Mr Morton Sutherland; MrPollard, Ecclos Division of Lancashire; Mr Ashbury, Southpurt Division of Lancashire. The following Liberals have been re-elected after a contest:—Mr T. C. Taylor, Radcilft'e Division of Lan cashire; Mr J. H. Duncan, Otley Division of Yorkshire. The following old Conservative members have been re-elected after a contest:—Colonel T. M. Sandys Bnotle Division of Lancashire; Captain C. B. Balfour, Hornsey JDivi sion of Middlesex. Following is the result of tbe election for the Gainsborough Division of Lincolnshire: —Mr Ronton, Liberal, 5922; Mr Moreiue, Unionist, 5071. The following Liberal members have been elected:—lsle of Wight, Mr Baring: Camborne, Mr Dunne. Liberals have been elected for tbe following places, previously represented by Conservatives or Unionists:— Egremont (Cumberland, Mr Fullerton; Tavistock, Mr Luttrell; East Aberdeenshire. Mr Annant; Wells, Mr Silcock; Wirrall (Cheshire), Mr W. H. Lever; Wellington (Shropshire). Mr Henry; Donoaster, Mr ' Nicholson; Hyde (Cheshire), Mr D. Schwann; South Ayrshire, Mr Beale; South Monmouthshire, Mr Herbert. MR LONG'S CANDIDATURE. A NARROW MAJORITY. Received January 26, 8,21 a.m. LONDON, January 25. The Devolutionists are making a strong right against the RigLfc Hon. W. H. Long, who was a member of the late Balfour Government, and who, atfer being defeated at Bristol, is now contesting Dublin South. Lord Dunraven, who initiated the "devolution" sofaeme, condemns Mr Long as the exponent of a mischievous and reactionary policy. Mr Leif Jones, who was returned in the Liberal interest for the Appleby Division of Westmorland, had a majorty over Lord Kerry (eldest son of the Marquis of Lan~.downe, late Foreign Minister) of only three votes. CITY OF LONDON'S MEMBER. RESIGNS JN MR BALFOUR'S FAVOUR. A CONTEST UNLIKELY. Received January 26, 9.37 p.m. LONDON, January 26. MrGibbs. member for City of London, offered to resign his seat in Mr Arthur Balfour's favour. Mr Balfour has gratefully accepted the offer on public grounds. It is unlikely that he will be opposed.

Received January 26, 9.37 p.m. LONDON, January 26. Mr Moroing, Tnriffite candidate for Gainsborough, recently sent three Liberal and three Conservative workers to study the Labour conditions in Germany. They have made their report, and are unanimous with regard to the necessity for a change, some of them advocating a duty on foreign goods, while all aro agreed on the absence of unemployed in Germany. The unskilled worker is better off there than in England, and there is a greater demand for skilled labour. All the workers sent are no longer "free" traders on the existing basis. THE STRENGTH OF PARTIES. Received January 26, 11 p.m. LONDON, January 26. The strength of the parties to date is as follows:—Liberals, 338; Labourites, 50; Nationalists, 81; Unionists, 141.
