MOUNT HOLDSWORTH.
A RELPY TO MOUNTAINEER. (To the Editor). Sir,—Your correspondent, "Mountaineer's," letter, of yester-Jay, de9ervea more than mere consideration by the Masterton people—it should be acted upon right away. It is moat unfortunate that we are so slow, and unpatriotic here. Men with money—stiok to it, and not only that, they are too selfish to initiate, or help on, any movement for the general good. Count on the flngera of one hand, the public gifts of Masterton men of means, you may leave your thumb out; it will still have company. The givers to the public are very, very few. It is to the permanent good of this town and district to make it attractive to tourists. Mount Holdsworth is waiting to be made readily available, and if we were not asleep half our time, this work would have been done long ago, and the fact well adrertiaed in the tourist itinerary, and railway time-tables, as well as locally. Will "Mountaineer" set the ball rolling!—l um, etc., RESIDENT.
