(From Our Own Correspondent). January 24th. A thanksgiving service was held in the Church of the Good Shepherd, last Sunday, for the seven years' Ministry, by the Rev. G. H. Sykes. The preaober said he was thankful to say that the seven years he had spent in the district bad been a very happy time, and during that time his heatlh had been excellent. The Rev. gentlemau bad travelled 40,000 miles in the district, and had held services from Te Awaite to Aohanga, and had visited every house and whare between these pluces, aud he was glad to say that he bad received warm hospitality from everybody during the seven years of his Ministry. Mr Sykes went on to say that he had only spent three years at his headquarters. He referred to the fact that two churches, costing about £IOOO had been built and were clear of debt. Mr Sykes, nlso, made an eloquent referenco to the work that had b6en done in the church during the last 30 years by the Rev. J. C. Andrew, who, at the present time, was not enjoying good health. "The Rev, J. O. Andrew is one of New Zealand's grand old men," said the preaober, "who has carried on the good work voluntarily." The friends of Mrs Ryder, of Langdale, will regret to hear that she is suffering from illness.
