A good deal of interest has been taken in the Wellington Education Board's appointment of Mr W. C. Davies as instructor in agriculture, particularly in the country districts, where such a subject is of vital interest to young lads, who in mapy oases look to the* land as the field of their life's work, says a contemporary. As to the manner in which Mr Davies' services are to bo utilised, two schemes have been considered by the Board, viz., - working from centres, or visiting all the schools under the jurisdiction of the Board Something in the nature of a compromise be> tweeo the two has been decided upon. Agriculture will be taught at stated intervals at such centres of population as Wellington, Greytown, Masterton, Carterton, Levin, and possibly Pahaitua, while visits wll be uaid to. other schools which obtain grants under this beading as follows: Dreyerton, Horoeka, Kaiporora, Kereru, Mauriceville West, Manakau, Ohau, Tukomaru, Te Horo, and Waione.
