HIDE AND SKIN KEPORT. Dalgety and Co., Ltd.—We re- \ port having held our U3ual fort j nightly sale of wool, skina and hides on Friday afternoon. Catalogues from all brokers were smaller j than usual. Prices for wool and skins were firm at late market rates, and hides showed an advance of fully 8d per lb. We quote as follows—Wool—Only bag lots and oddments offered. Crossbred fleece 7%d to 8%, dingy fleece 7d to 7'%d, good lambs B%d, dead to bellies 5d to Gd, locks and stained pieces 2*& dto 4d. Sheepskus— Very few good Hue* offering. Good pelts 2s lOd to 3ds 3d, damaged 2s 4d to 2s lid, lambs 8d to B}£d, crossbrod to 9d, hoggets 7d to B%d, dead and damaged 6%d to 7%d. Hides—No heavy offering. Medium ox 5%d to 5%d, inferor ox 5d to s}4d, medium cows s)£d to 5%d, slippy cow 4%d to 4%d, yearlings 5%d to 5%d, calf skina 6%d to 7d, calfskins (cut aud damaged) ■6% d to ?oat skins Is to Is 7d each. Our next sale is fixed for Ferbruary 2nd. WOOL SALES, ETC. The New Zealand Loan and Mercautle Agency Co., Ltd., Welling ton, report, under date 18th instant, as follows:—Only moderate catalogues were offered, at to-day's sales. There was a fair attendance of buyers. Competition was good for everything offered. Only a few bag lots of wool were offered. We quote: —Sheepskins—Coarse crossbred to B%d, pelts 7d to 7 %d, dead skins and damaged from to 7%d, lambskins to B%d per lb, green pelts from 2s to 3s 3d, shorn lamb pelts lsto Is 3d each. Hides—Sound cow t" 5%, ox from s}£d to 6d, cut and slippy hides from 5d to 5%d, calfskins "(sound) from 6d to cut and damaged to s>' 2 'd per lb. Tallow—Mixed in shipping condition to 21s 9d, tins from 16s 9d to 18s 3d. Horee-hair from Is 7d to 2s 3d per lb. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report:—We offered on Friday only green skins and 400 bides, all dry skins remaining over for next sale. Skina —There was no change in prices, pelts and lambs' skins selling at 3s 2dfand 3a 4d respectively. We quote:—Merinos to 9d, fine crossoreds to 34d, coarse crossbreds to 9d, dead skins to 1%, short wools to 7>£d, pelts (green) 2s 4d to 3s 2d each, lamb skins (green) 2s 9d to 3s 4d. TalJow—Casks 20s Gd, tins 17s 6d, rough fat 14s. Hoarse-hair, Is 4d per lb. Hides—The market was very strong, and prices advanced another %d all round. We quote:— Ox hides s}j£d to.6d, cow 5d tos%d, cut and slippy hides 4>£d to 5%, calfskins s&d to 7%d. The-next sale will be held on February 2, 1906.
LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have been advised by cable from their London office, under date 18th instant, as follows : Wcol sales continue active; competition is brisk, and the buyine is general from all quarters. Fine merino wools, market firm. Inferior, faulty and earthy wools, prices are 5 per cent, lower thaj closing rates of last series. Wheat market steady but inactive. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 17th Jinstant:—Sinoe our telegram of the 10th instant, all sorts, exoept extra mutton' tallow, are higher by 6d per cwt. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegrams from their London office, dated the 18th instant:— Butter—Market weak. We expect lower prices. Total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ending 13th instant amounted to 81,000cwt., as compared with 98,000 cwt, for the corresponding period of last year. The Copenhagen official quotation is 6 kroners lower (about 6s 7d) per cwt. We quote:—Australian, finest, 110s to 112s. The market is depressed and prices may decline further temporarily, but we expect a better demand later, possibly. Frozen meat Market very dulJ. Frozwn mutton, prices are firm. Frozen lamb, prices are rather lower. New Zealand frozen boef, neglected. STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Wellington, report having held their usual sale at their Upper Butt yards on the 17tb instant, when there was a full yarding of cattle, but only a small entry of sheep. There was a better demand for cattle, but sheep were not keenly competed for. The following were prices realised:—Forward bullocks £5 17s; 18-month steers 38s to 4tls, fat cows from £4 to £5, weanera 17s 6d, calves 20s, springing cows up to £5, stags £4.
