The Masterton portion of the Outward mail is made up on Wednesday Afternoon prior to the Wellington sailing dnte, and a supplementary mail is despatched, closing %t 5.30 a.m. on Thursday following, connecting with the steamer at New Plymouth The Inward m.il is due at Masterton by the 10.0 p m'. on the same date as at Wellington. MASTERTON TELEGRAPH .EOURS. The office hours for telegraph work, at Masterton, are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to midnight daily (Saturday excepted). Sundays from 5 to 5.30 p.m. Holidays from 9'a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 7 p.m. to midnight. Telephone Exchange is open from 8 a.m. to midnight daily (Sundays excepted). On Good Friday and Christmas Day the hours are 9 to 10 a.m. only • \ HATES OF POSTAGE. (From the N.Z. Postal Guide). Letters and Letter Cards. —Inland, the United Kingdom, British pcseissions— Id for each half-ounce or fraction thereof. —Note—" Inland" includes the Cook Islands namely, Earatonga, Mangaia, Atiu, Aitutaki, Mitiaro, Mauke, and Hervey (Manuai); also Palmerston (Avarua), Niue (Savage), Pukapuka (Danger), Eakaanga, Manahiki, Penrhyn (Tongareva), and Suwarrow Islands, British New Guinea, 2d for each half-ounce or fraction thereof. All other places 2.Jd for each half-ounce ov fraction thereof. Post Cards.—All places, single, Id teply, 2d. Commercial Papers.—Town, ijd, if not exceeding half-ounce, or Id for the not 4oz or fraction thereof, and $d for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof.
