LABOURERS STRIKE AT WAIPORI.

DUNEDIN, January 15. / About twenty ofjthe men employed iu the labourers' work at Waipori struck on Saturday for increased wages. Tbough the engineer and those under him were frequently ou the work no request was made or complaint received. The men evidently thought the presence at the works of the Mayor and City Councillors a good time to make the demands, but they were not allowed to see the Mayor. As they declined to ffo to work they were paid off and to-day were replaced by other men.
