WALTHAM ORPHANAGE ENQUIRY.

OHRISTOHURCH, Jan. 15. At tbe Waltbam Orphanage enquiry this afternoon evidenoe was given to the effect that the children were well oared: for and were giveD good food. The green dresses referred to were not grotesque or calculated to cause ridioule. Mr F. J. Board, ex-Chairman of the Charitable Aid Board, said he had never heard any oomplaintsconcerning tbe Matron of the Orphanage. He favoured tbe Cottage Home system instead of a large institution. The enquiry will be continued to-morrow.
