CRICKET.
As the first round of the Mastertou Assocation's Junior Cup fixtures has been concluded a meeting of the Management Committee of the Association will bo held on Thursday eveniug at Mr Ctoennells' office to draw up the second round. At the same time the second round of the senior fixtures will be drawn up. The Secretary of the Wairarapa Association has intimated that the unfinished matches in the first round are to be played on Saturday. Masterton A play Greytown, at Greytown: Masterton B play Carterton, at Masterton; Y.M.C.A. play Greytown. at Masterton. It will be necessary for the Masterton B and Y.M.CXA. to get their wickets, on the Oval and School-ground, in order during the present week. The Masterton Club players taking part in the above matches ars:—A twam: Perry, Parton, Redmond, Logan, Essoin, Prow, Egan, MoKel lar, Judd, Waite, Tylee. B*eam: Robertson, Pish, Welch, O'Connor, Edwards, Truscott, Jackson, Jago, Coradine, Entwistle, JUolden, Bennett, and another. In connection with the recent match between the Pahiatua Club and the Welch Family the Pahiatua Herald says:—The Pahiatua team were conveyed in vehicles to Willow Park, w.here the match was to be played. ' The turf wicket was a bit bumpy. A nice clump of bush afforded shelter from the sun's rays, and here a refreshment booth had been erected. Seating acoom modation was provided for the onlookers, of which there were a goodly number, including a large number of the Welch Family, notforgetting "the daddy of them all." The teams were oaptained by W. Welch and C. H. Pearcey respectively. At the conclusion of the match cheers were given for the winners by Pahiatua, and responded to by Captain Welch and bis team. Captain Welch stated that he would have liked to have seen a more even game, and regretted that the visitors had not their full strength. The Pahiatua playerß were most hospitably entertained, and were loud in their praises of the way they had been treated. It was cordiality of the good old English style. The WeJch Family are assured of a right royal reception when they pay Pahiatua a visit. For the Welch Family B. "Welch took 8 wickets for 17 runs and 3 for 12, G. Welch 5 for 9, E. Welch 2 for 19, W. Weloh'l for 3, and M. Welch 1 for 5. CANTERBURY v. AUCKLAND. A WIN FOR OANTERB7RY. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 9. The lnterprovincial cricket match Canterbury v. Auckland was concluded to-day, Canterbury winning by five wickets and three runs. The scores were:—■ Auckland.— First innings, 208; second innings, 'l5B. Grand total, 366. Canterbury.—Firjat innings, 252; second innings, 5 wickets for 117. Grand total, 369.
