THE NOKTBERN ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 8. The Northern Bowling Association's Tournament opened to-day in splendid ■weather. The sun shone brightly all day, and the greens were in good condition, reueut rain having bad a beneficial effect on them. Shortly before 9 a.m. the visiting and city players gathered on the Wellington Club's green, where they were welcomed by Messrs A. Veifcch and F. W. Haybittle. Thirty-two clubs are represented, each by ei H 'ht players, and the games are being played on the Welliagtou, Thorndon, Victoria aud Newtown greens. The following table shows tho position of each club at the conclusion of to day's play, the number of wins and losses being given respectively:— Thorndon, 1 and 1; liutt, 2 and 1; Greenmeadows, 1 and 2; New Plymouth, 1 and 2; Dunedin, 1 and 2; Gisborne, 3 and 0; Wanganui, 1 and 2; Eomuera, 3 and 0; Masterton, 1 and 2; Southland, 2 and 1; Stratford, 1 and 2; Napier, 0 and 3; Patea, . 0 and 3; Kilbirnie, 2 and. 1; Newtown, 2 and 1; Pahiatua, 1 and 2; Auckland, 3ando; Feilding, 1 and 2; Victoria, 3ando; Carlton, 3ando;
