STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, report at their monthly stock sale at Pongaroa on Friday last:—We had a fair yarding in cattle, but only *,wo pens of sheep. The bulk of tho oattle changed hands, good sorts selling well, the rough class beiu« neglected. Forward 3-yoar heifers made £3 7s 6d, forward cows up to 50s, year lings 30a, calves 20s. Mixed 2tooth sheep lis 3d. Harness gelding £l2. WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows: —To a good attendance of buyers wo submitted a catalogue of about 1200 skina, 110 hides and a quantity of horsehair and tallow. There was keen demaud for all lines, especially fcr hides and calf skius, a small lot of calves roalis ing 7d per lb. Sound pelted full•woolled skins wero eagerly sought after at slight advance on last sale's rates. We did not offer auy wool as all oddments will be inoluded in our solo on the 11th inst. We quote Full-woollod sound pelted skins, merino and half-bred B>£d to 9d, fine crossbred to 9d,~ coarse crossbred from 8d to 9a; damaged and dead skins from 5d to iy»A, dry pelts from G%d to lambs 7>£d to per lb, green pelt* from 2s Gd to 3d each, green lambs up to 3s 2d. Hides—Sound, Cow s)|d to 5%d, ox from to 5%d. cut and slippy hides 3d to calfskins sound Gd to7dperlb, cat and slippy 4d to 5%d, horsehair from Is 2d to Is 9d, tallow m casks to 20s 6d, tins 17s 6d per cwt. Messrs Levin and Co.. Ltd., report :—We offered on Friday 3600 skins, 400 hides, and a quantity of wool in bags and fadgeg, and tallow. There was brisk bidding and a firmer tone all round. Dead wool sold at 7%d to B>£d, and fleeces in baas 8d to B%d, pieces in bags 6d to 6%d, lambs wool 9d. Skins-—Prices were very firm and' advanced for best lots, pelts and lambs' skins sold at record prices, reaching 3s 2d and 3s 4d, respectively. We qaote— Merinos B>£d to 9d, fine crossbreds B>£d to coarse to 9d, dead skins to short wools 6}fj to green pelts 2s 4d to 3s 2d each, green lambs ekins 28 9d to 3s 4d each. Tallow—Casks 20s 6d, tins 17s 6d, rough fat 14s. Horsehair, Is 4d per lb. Hides— The marked was strong and prices advanced all round. We quoteOx hides 5d to f>%d, cowhides i%d to 5%d, cut and slippy hides to calfskins 5d to l%d. The next eale will be held on January 19, 1906."-.- »;vMKSSSS Dalgety and Company,report having held their fortnightly sale on Friday. Wool—Only bag lots and oddments offered. We quote:— Bright crossbred 9%d, inferior crossbred Bd, crutchings sd, locks and stained pieces 4d to 4>£d, dead 7%d to 8. No really good lines offering. Sheepskins—Prices were firm, good sorts showing an advance of fully J£d per lb. We quote— Crossbred B%d to 9d, damaged crossbred 7d to hoggets 7d to Bd,' lambs 8d to dead and inferior 6%d to 7%d, pelts 2s 3d to 2s lid. Hides —No prime sorts offering. Last sain rates wero fully maintained. We qaote—Ox 5%d to 5%d. slippy and inferior ox 4%d to sd, cows 5d to 5%d, slippy and inferior cows to 4%d, calfskins 6%d to 6%d, Blippy calf-skins 5d to 5%6. Taliuw—Small casks 17s 9d, tins, 15s 9d. I LONDON ITEMS. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegram from their London Office-' dated tbo, 4th inst.:—Frozen mutton and lamb, since our last telegram prices are at par to %d per lb higher. Frozen beef, prices are weak. Tallow in general is unchanged since our telegram of December 20. Butter—Market .firm. The Copenhagen official quotation is 2 kroners higher (about 2s 3d). Total imports of butter into the United Kingdom tor the week ending Deamounted to 70,000 cwt., as compared with 69,000 for the corresponding period of last year. OnBaited butter—Slightly better demand.'
