EGG-LAYING.
THE COMPETITION. BLENHEIM. January 7. Tho total for tho 36th week of the New Zealand Egg-laying Competition was 1748, making tho grand aggregato (36,548, the weekly averago per pen being 17.48. Tho highest layings for the week were:—Leger'a Whi'o .Leghorns (Levin), 30; Hawke's Silver Wyaudottes (Greytown North), 30: Asuvvorfch's Silver Wyaudottes (Alexandra), 28; Mick Shaw's White Leghorns (Blouheim), 28; Bertha Edwards' White Leghorns (Blouheim). 2S. Tho order of merit in tho grand aggrogate now is: Leger, 1038; Brooks ("South Australia), 941; Marlborough A. and P. Association, 933; Mick Shaw, 92G; Jonathan Hodsou, 907. All these pons are White Leghorns. The total number of eggs for December was 88 73. The first prize for tho mouth was won by the Marlborough A. and P. Association with 129; Hockey's Brown Leghorns (Nelson) second with 126; King and Bishell's White Leghorns (Blenheim) third with 125. A large number of the hens are moulting, and there are about 100 broody hens.
