LONDON MARKETS. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegrams from their London Office.—Dated the 28th instant —Poor demand for lamb, and better demand for mutton, trices are a shade flimer. Beef unohanged. We quote: Lamb, prime Canterbury (heavy), 4d; North Island, 4d. Mutton, Canterbury (heavy) 3%d; Norch Island, 3%d. Ox beef, fores 3d; hinds, 3%d. Light weights, (lamb) Canterbury, £%d; North Island, Mutton (Canterbury), 4d; North Island, 4d. Butter: Market unsettled. Copenhagen official quotation is 4 kroner higher (about 4s 6d) per cwt. The future is difficult to forecast. Total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for week ending 23rd instant amounted to 923,000 cwt, as compared with 78,000 for the corresponding period of last year, Wheat: The market continues to decline, and a further decline in pxices is generally expected. THE WEST OF ENGLAND SERVICE. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 1. The New Zealand and African Steamship Company, contractors tor the steamship service from New Zealand to the West Coast ports of the United Kingdom (Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow) have notified the Now Zealand Government that they contemplate exercising the option provided in their agreement of continuing the service via London.
