LOCAL ITEMS.
Mr. W. Cooley, who has been in business in Upper Hutt for the past 14 years, has sold out to Mr. R. H. C Askew, late of the Railway Department. Mr. Cooley ("William" as he is known to all) -will be leaving the district shortly, taking a trip to Australia, to see the cricket test matches. We welcome Mr. Askew in our district, and wish him the best of luck in his business. Noel Dunn, the popular young secretary of the Silverstream Tennis Club, -was successful in winning the Hutt Valley High School Senior Tennis Championship on Monday last. Noel is 16 years of age and is probably the youngest secretary in New Zealand of a Tennis Club. Mr. Jefcoate, the president of the Silverstream Tennis Club, states that the boy is very efficient in his secretarial duties. Noel's brother, Derry, is doing- well.in the elementary school championship in the same sport.
