UPPER HUTT WOMEN'S INSTITUTE BIRTHDAY PARTY.

A very pleasant function took place recently in the Reeox-d Hall when the members of the Upper Hutt Women's Institute and their friends met to celebrate the Institute's fourth birthday. Mrs. Griffin, px-esident, welcomed those present, who included x-epresentatives from several othex- Institutes. The bix-thday cake, beax-ing four candles and decorated -with the Institute's fioi-al emblem, the kowhai, was cut by Mrs. Rogers, a former px-esident. The drama cix-ele contx-ibuted a play, and Mr. Jackson sang. Dancing and competitions caused much merriment and a delicious home-made supper added an important item to a very enjoyable programme.
