MAJESTIC THEATRE.
That the exchange of players between the British and American studios continues at an unabated pace is seen in the cast of "The Flame Within," at the Majestic Theati-e. Of the five principals four of them are from Great Britain: Herbert Marshall, Maureen O'Sullivan, Louis Hayward and Henry Stephenson. Ann Harding, co-starred with Marshall, hails from Texas. Edmund Goulding, author-director of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer attraction, also is of English birth. All the characters who fill the famous "Ruggles of Red Gap" were drawn from life and represent people the author met during his travels through the West. This information comes from Harry Leon Wilson, Jr., who is now employed as ' a script writer at Paramount, the studio that made the picture version of "Ruggles of Red Gap," now at the Majestic Theatre. Charles Laughton, in the title role, is featured with Mary Boland, Charlie Ruggles and Roland Young. "Father used to take his car and drive into the little 'backwoods' towns where he would talk for hours with the local characters. Many of them laterappeared in quite recognisable form in 'Ruggles of Red Gap'." Set in the gusty days of the 1900's, "Ruggles of Red Gap" reveals the story of a staid London butler who suddenly finds himself a ladies' man in a small Western town.
