BACHELORS' BALL

Monday evening- was a gala night at the Upper Hutt on the occasion of the annual Bachelors' Ball, held in the Majestic Theatre. The hall was beautifully decorated and the supper room was excellent. Music was played by the Brown Owl Orchestra. Mr. L. Can- carried out the duties of M.C., and he was assisted by Mr. Hazehvood. At ten o'clock there were over 400 dancers on the crowded floor. The galaxy of colours of the ladies' dresses blended with the decorations, making a beautiful display. Supper was one of the attractions, and Mr. and Mrs. Griffiths and their staff were ke]Dt very busy. Streamers, hats and balloons were prominent, and at 2 a.m., many happily tired, declared they would remember that night for many a year. The members of the committee are to be congratulated on such a wonderful success, especially the hard-work-ing secretary (Mr. Can), and the treassurer (Mr. H. St. Johnston). To Mr. Styles and Douglas must go the credit for the outstanding decorations of the supper room. The Bachelors' Committee was as follows: K. Douglas, R. Styles, R. McKnight, R. McKendry, L.
