attempt made at concerted attacks. The only instance of real team play resulted in all the backs handling for Clyma., the wing-, to score. This team will have to perform very much better if wins against strong opposition are expected. The material for a really good side is there but it depends upon the players to a large extent to make the best use of it. Plummer had a busy day behind the scrum and he and Cooper emulated Ginger and Mark Nicholls in working for the field goal—a very neat piece of work. A newcomer to the team, Perritt, will do well when he settles down. Keeble and Humphries were the best forwards. Full marks again to Tngpen for his tackling. Seventh Grade. As indicated, this match resulted in a win for Upper Hutt by 38 points to nil. Details of scoring are: Tries —J. Bremner 2, C. Whiteman 4, E. Lloyd 1, D. Routley 2, N. Edwards 1. Conversions—N. Edwards 1, C. Whiteman 2, J. Bremner 1. C. Whiteman was again prominent and when he has overcome the habit of running across the field, a further improvement may be expected. The forwards packed well in the set scrums but there is room for much improvement in the loose and many opportunities were missed when they were caught out of position through not following up. D. Dalton was always present in the thickest parts and shows all-x-ound capabilities. In the scrums the hookers did their work well but the ball was inclined to become entangled in the back row and W. Butler, halfback, did not see enough of the ba.ll. Play in the backs was impressive and E. Lloyd, G. Edwards, and J. Bremner provided some really good fast runs. D. Routley will have to learn to handle the ball more carefully and to run with determination. When these points have been grasped, we should see him in the scoring list more often. HOCKEY. LADIES' SENIOR B. Upper Hutt 5, Technical Old Girls 0. Upper Hutt ladies' team was very successful in their match with Technical Old Girls on Saturday, winning by five goals to nil. Some very nice combined play was witnessed by the spectators, especially in the second half, when the local girls scored three goals. The whole team played really good hockey, and some fine play can be expected in the future by this well-balanced team. MEN. Warriors (Upper Hutt) won by default. SOCCER. The game as scheduled to be played last Saturday between the local representatives of the Upper Hutt United and Petone Technical College at Maidstone Park unfortunately resulted in a bloodless victory for the local teams owing to the Petone teams defaulting However, a game was arranged between the A and B grades.
