THE POLICE V. W. "*\ MORRISON.
{To. the Editor.)
Snt, — On Friday last, I was summoned by the Police as a witness in the case of the Police, v. Mr. W. D. Morrison for neglecting to keep a light burning during the night at the excavations required for laying the water mains. The case was clearly proved, but judgment deferred until to-day, when Mr. Morrison was fined Is. and costs of Court. Witnesses expenses were not allowed, although being summoned to attend and doing so, I lpst half a day, which could have been more profitably devoted to my cabbage ground. Now, Mr. Morrison who, I ranat inform you, is the wealthy miner and railway contractor, and has some influence, did not even put in an appearance to the charge, and, as contractor for" the work, is presumably calculating to make a profit out of the job ( pins the bonns), he should surely be made to pay the costs of hi 3 laches; whereas, I. who do nof even stand the remotest chance, of any part of the £30, am made to lose half a day fornotbing, for the purp&se p fining Mr. W. D. Man-won.; one "Colonial Robert." — Youra reraonstratively, Oub of the Witnesses, Lawrence, 32nd February.
