WEDNESDAY, 24th FEBRUARY, At 2 o'clock, HORSES, CATTLE^ &c. ■c MATTHEW HAY - has received instructions from Mr. Steward M'Coombe to sell by public auction, nt the Tuapeka Hotel Yards, Tuapeka Flat, on Wednesday, 24th February, at 2 o'clock, That celebrated Clydesdale entire horse YOUNG CLYDE. Young Clyde is by Thane of Clyde, out of Black Polly, who was imported to Victoria, and sold for the sum of £220 ; grand-sire, tho renowned champion horse, Prince Charlie, who was never beaten in Scotland or the Australian Colonies. He was imported to Victoria by J. and M, Mackintosh j granddam, tho far-famed and renowned Black Diamond (imported), winner of the Port Phillip Farmers' Society Challenge Cup for seven years in succession, and never" suffered defeat. She was the property of J. Kearnon, Esq., Moonee Ponds, Yottxg- Clyde -was got by Thane of Clyde, imported by Hugh M'Lean, Esq. He gained Ist prize at the Southland Show, 1867 ; Ist prize at Tokomairiro, 1863 5 2nd prize at the Taieri, the same year ; and Ist prize at the Molyneux, 1869. He was taken back to Victoria, and was sold there for £500 to go to Canterbury, but died at the Bluff. Young Clyde is a dark chesnut, stands 18 hands high, with plenty of bone and substance, and is, without doubt, the surest foal-getter in the Province, His stock has been sold in Dunedin market at £120 for two two-year-olds, thus proving that he does not disgrace his ancient lineage. Also, a pure-bred Ayrshire Bull, a winner of three gold medals, bred by Mr. Warnock, of Southland, and sold by him for £150. 10 First-class Horses, consisting of light draughts, gentlemen's hacks, and stook horses. 12 Working Bullocks, and Waggon, 20 Head of quiet Dairy Cattle. After the above, Mr. Hay will offer for sale a number of Saddle and Harness Horses, Saddles, Bridles, &c. Teems at Sale. Sutton Brothers, the far- ! famed importers of Lincoln Prize stock, Account of James Sutherland, Esq. :•— 10 Pure-bred Leicester Rams (mixed ages). At our Yards, 1872, his Ram Lambs brought £3 2s 6d each ; at our Yards, 1873, 30 Rq,m Lambs, one lot, £2 5s each. of Jon Hislop, Esq. : — 10 Pure-bred Leicester Rams (mixed ages). At our Yards, 1873, his Rams brought from £3 5s to £5 10s each. Account of A.
