Oapstick, Duthie & Co. report for the week ending Saturday, the 6th February : — At Mr Win. Tyson's sale, Tuapeka district. Cattle — 8 dairy cows wore sold as follows : £3 2s 6d, £3 12s 6d, £3 14s, £3 10s, £4 ss, £4 5s £4 15s, and £5, respectively ; and 8 yearling steers and heifers brought from 45s to 52s 6d ea'-h. Horses — Light hacks brought from £9 10s to £22 each; the draught horses were withdrawn from sale. Sales at our yards, Thursday, January 28. Cattle — 4 head of store cattle were all that were yarded, which realised £4 12s 6cl each. Horses — Sold, 4-year-old draught colt, £56 ; grey gelding, aged, £31 10s ; 5-year-old medium draught mare, £31 10s, one light hack, £17, respectively. At Mr Amos M'Kegg's "White House, Taieri Bridge Ferry, 29th January. Cattle — 36 head of store cattle and steers brought £4 each. , At our own yards, Milton, on Saturday, the 6th Feb. Horses — Draught mare and. gelding, sold as a pair, brought £100 ; light hacks from £15 10s to £25 each. Sheep — 77cros3bred and. merino ewes, 8s 6J; 18 L ewes and lambs, 8s 3d ; 24 merino ewes, 8s 8d ; 26 merino ewes and lambs, 9s 8d each. The latest Parisian parlour pastime is the' " lottery alphabet," which it is said for downright fun cannot be excelled. The mode of playing it is thus described : — The letters of a dozen alphabets; printed on little squares of ivory or other material, are placed in a basket and shaken up.
