WARDEN'S COURT, LAWRENCE.
(Before E. H. Carew, Esq., Warden.) Monday, 18th January, 1875.
■ The application for an agricultural lease of section 38, block 111., iuapeka West, was called on. Mr. Robins having withdrawn his objections, the applications were with the consent of all the applicants forthwith balloted for. There were nine applications in all. Thomas Humphrey was the first name called, and Mr. Copland drew for him the highest possible number, to the chagrin of the other applicants. Thomas Humphrey's application was accordingly granted. Andrew Rnsewall's application for a residence aroa at M'Millan's Flat was adjourned to view tbe land, ad was also that of John M Hat tie, for whom M'Coy Mr. appeared. Power v. atewarl Af'Combe. — Complaint of depasturing sheep on the Waipori commonage without a license so to do. Mr. M'Coy for tlie Inspector. This case failed through the inability of the witnesses to prove to the satisfaction of the Warden tbe ownership of the sheep. Power v. Cable and Drummoad. — This charge was proved, and defendant fined £2 10 ; expenses of witnesses, £1 ; costs of Court, lls, and professional costs, £1 Is. Power v. Cotton aad Henry.— This was a similar charge. Mr. M'Coy for the Inspector. The Warden was not sufficiently satisfied that the sheep were the property of Cotton and Henry, and dismissed the case.
