BOXING DAY. {To the Editor.) Sib, — I was somewhat surprised to see tome of our business men trying to take advantage of the more civilized people of Lawrence in the way of breaking through the established custom of keeping Christmas Day and Boxing Day as close holidays. These gentlemen may be very anxious for profit and business, but these grasping propensities should meet with the disapproval of all who think that Christinas is a time of recreation, and a time when the employes should get a day or two for relaxation, and an opportunity of visiting their friends at this festive season. However, Brown Jones and Kobinson are the only defaulters this time. Jones and Robinson, both very anxious men, should be allowed a little consideration, and I would propose that they open their shops on Sunday mornings until ten o'clock, and if that won't suffi c let them keep open night and day and give the public a fair chance to learn all their latest business points. — I am,'&c.
