An accident occurred at the Graving Dock this morning, by whioh a shipwright named Beggary got his foot severely jammed.
The Supreme Court opened at Invercargill to-day. The only case heard was that of Brennan, charged with attempting to murder Mary Hill. Prisoner pleaded guilty, and was remanded for sentence. A dinner was given last night at Queenstown to the American Observation perty, and was a great success. Professor Peters spoke twice, and in terms of great admiration of this Island. December 19, 10.35 a.m. An accident occurred to the northern coach (Devine driving) yesterday morna ing. The horses became frightened a$ some bags left on the road, and commenced to kick and plunge, resulting in the coach being upset. No one was seriously hurt, although some were severely bruised. Tt is in contemplation to start a new evening paper at Napier, and a new penny paper is also talked of. Hokitika Mayoral election resulted in the return of J. C. Tabart, who polled 253 votes, against 178 for Broan. The Opera Company played for the last time at Christchurch last night, and leave for Dunedin to-day. i
