TUAPEKA RACES.
(To the Editor.) Sir.,— ln again troubling you in reply to " Observer," I am happy even to have amused him although the satisfaction is somewhat marred by the knowledge that " little .things please little minds." The ■writer goes on to abuse the Jockey Club, and attributes to them what he calls the failure of our local races, Since my brief residence in Tuapeka they have invariably been a Buccess ; certainly the Jockey Club Handicap has not produced '. a good race on one or two .-occasions, but that was owing to the paucity of entries and not the fault of the Club. In -con-
elusion, Sir, I accept " Observer's " challenge, and enclose the sum of £5 and bet J him that I have subscribed" more to the funds of the Club since it was permanently established than he has done.^-lam '&0~, Haricot.
