Young Clyde is by Thane of Clyde, out of Black Polly, who was imported to Victoria, and sold for the sum of £220; grand-sire, the renowned champion horse Prince Charlie, who was never beaten in Scotland or the Australian Colonies. He was imported to Victoria by J. and M. Mackintosh ; granddam, the far-famed and renowned Black Diamond (imported), winner of the Port j Philip Farmers' Society Challenge Cup for seven years in succession, and never suffered defeat. She was the property of J. Kearnon, Esq., Moonee Ponds. "SToxraro CxTiE -was got by Tliane o£ Olycle, imported by Hugh M'Lean, Esq. He gained Ist prize at the Southland Show, 18G7 ; Ist prize at Tokomairiro, 1868 ; 2nd prize at the Taieri, the same year ; and Ist prize at the Molyneux, 1869- ' He was taken back to Victoria, and was sold there for £500 to go to Canterbury, but died at the Bluff. Young Clyde is a dark chesnut, stands 18 hands high, .with plenty of hone and substance, and is, without doubt, the surest foalgetter in the Province. His stock has been sold in Dunedin market at £120 for two twoj ear-olds, thus proving that he does not disgrace his ancient lineage.
