Melbourne, November 16th. Sir William Stawell is expected out early in January, and will be sworn in as Acting Governor. In the case of Casey v.. Candler, for false imprisonment, the Judge directed a verdict for the defendant, on a point, that defendant, os Coroner, was acting ia a judicial capacity in his own Court. The Marquis of Normanby is at Sydney, and is a guest at the Government House. New Caledonia advices state that Wallenstein was brought to trial for aiding in the escape of Rochefort, and acquitted.
