DRAINAGE PLOUGH.

The following letter has been sent by the I'rovincial Secretary to the varous Agricultural Associations and Farmer's Clubs throughout the province :—: — Provincial Secretary's Office, Dunedin, 21st October, 1874. " Sir, — Referring to a resolution passed by the Provincial Council, offering a first prize of £100 and a 2nd prize of £50 for the most approved drainage plough — (a copy of resolution enclosed) — I have now the honor to inform you that I shall be glad if your Society will favor me with their views on the following points :—: — 1. What would be the most suitable time for holding the competition ; 2. The best means of determining the relative merits of the machines which may be exhibited ; > 3. The terms in which prizes should be awarded , And any other suggestions which may occur to you which may assist in furthering the object which the Provincial Council had in Tiew. (Signed) D. Resoi/ved.— "That a respectful address be presented to his Honor the Superintendent, requesting that the sum of £LSO be placed upon the Suplementary Estimates for the purpose of offering a first and second prize for the production of the best and most approved drainage plough.
