Brigham Young is dangerously ill. There has been a terrible riot between north and south of Ireland laborers on the 1 Delaware railway. Many of the riotei'B were injured. The Government have arranged a tri1 monthly mail between California and China. William N. Ewarts is spoken of as the most likely candidate for the Presidentship. The American riflemen beat Rigby's Irish team. A number of masked burglars robbed the Pennsylvania Bank of Philadelphia, and gagged the manager and cashier. Tho Custom House and eight dwellings at Brazos were swept away by a tornado. The grand trunk railway at Canada has altered its guage from broad to narrow. The second match to decide the superiority for loug range* of breech and muzzle-loaders resulted in favour of the latter. Both Tilton and Monkton have been indicted for malicious libel on the Bey. Ward Beeehev Mr. Gordon Bennett, of tho New York Herald, offers to pay one-fourth of the entire -cost of the new Arctic expedition. Thirty-nine medical students have been arrested at Buffalo as resurrectionists. Commercial credit at New York has been disturbed by the recent failures. Mr. Hepworth Dixon arrived at Now York on October 2nd.
