The usufil weekly meeting of, the Waste -Lancia Board was held yesterday. Present : The Chief Commissioner (Mr. Thomson), in th^'eftoirj and Messrs Strode, Butterworth. Reid, and Clark. APPLICATION TOE.JiAND ON aOLDFIEIDS. Jas. Keppel applied*! for sections 20, 21, and 22, block 111., Tuapeka West., Refused ; District Land Officer to bo asked whether the public were generally aware that the land was open for sale. R. E. Elliott applied for section 4,2, Hock XVIII., Tuapeka West. Approved, subject to tho reservation made by tho District Land Officer. APPLICATION TO EXCHANGE AGBICULTBtTAIi LEASES. The following applications were approved ; O'Keeffe and Mullen, for sections 1 and 2, block VII., and sections 52 and 53, block Vl.,' Shotover ; Mr. Goodman, section 48, block V, Tuapeka East ; C. W. Adams, section 19, block V., Tuapeka East. APPLICATIONS FOB LAND ON GOLDFIELDS. All the following applications were referred to the District Land Office : — David Murray, section 42, Waihemo district ; E. L. Lowdesn, sections 11, 12, 13; and 14, Dunback dristict, and sections 10, 14, 29, 30, 31, and 42, Waihemo district ; Sir F: D. Bell, sections 12, 13, 17, 18, 35, 36, 40, and 51, Waihemo district. Mr. George Cook appeard for Sir F. D. Bell. LEES STREAM DISTBICT The Board approved of the recommendation of the Exocutive Council that sections 3 and 9, blo<Vk Vl,' Decs Stream district, be sold to Robert Glenn, under clause 36. TAPANTTI Mr. iA. Allen, lion. Secretary to the Tapanui Progress Committee, wrote asking the Board to decline ■< the application of Mr. Yoixugson for a piece of burned bush in Tapanui. ■ It was resolved .that the matter should stand over until the report of Ranger Hughan should have been obtained. ■ ' r THE ANTIMONY-MINING COMPNY. Messrs A. F. Kenny and Co. applied to be put in possession of the ground said to be abandoned by the Otago Mining Company at Hindon. The applicants stated that they had only beon a short time over from Victoria, and were prepared to spend money on the enterprise. They did not think it fair that the Otago Company should continue to hold the ground in the way in which they were doing. " The working of the mines would benefit the province materially. If some steps were' not taken the Otago Mining Company might continue to hold the land for a generatior. Tho Chief Commissioner told the applicants that if the land were open it would not be given to them to ,the exclusion of the rest of the public. •> . , The Board decided that the former applicants should be called upon to sign a lcaso within a fortnight from that date ; otherwise their rights^ wouldf-'be forfeited. APPLICATION POIS PROTECTION. J. Morris applied for protection to prospect for antimony aboiit ihVee miles from Hindon, at tho head of Tom's Giilly. • ' The Bonrd granted the protection for a 'period of three months. • ' - IMPROVED SECTIONS. • The Board approved of a resolution ,of the Executive Council recommending that certain improved sections in the Leo's Stream- and Tuapeka Huudrods should be - sold under clause 18. .
