ROXBURGH.
{From a Correspondent.) September 23, 1874 I told you in a lecent letter that Mr. J. B. Borton, (our late Warden) was about to sell out his interest ,in the Hercules claim. He has now done JSO to Mr. Thos. Featherstone for the sum of £1,300, all who know Mr. Featherstone's, indomitable pluck, perseverance, and energy, will be glad to hear of this lucky spec. Yesterday Mr. Warden Simpson gave his decision in the now celebrated case of Beighton v. Cornish, or, I should say, was prepared to give it, which he stated would be against Mr. Beighton. Mr. 8., however, elected to be non-suited with a right to appeal, subject to his paying the costs of court ; £6 5a Mr. A. MacPheroon's expenses ; and £1 Is professional fee to Wx. Wilson, who appeared for Cornish. You will no doubt reoeive a full report frem "your own." The Foreßters Ball comes off to-morrow • evening, and is expected to be a grand affair. Last night several new members were initiated, amongst them our much respected town councillor Mr. Geo. Maokay. On Bunday next, your townsman, the Eev. Mr. Beck, will preach the anniversary sermons in Coal Creek Church ; and on Tuesday evening, what is here called a "teafight" will take place, which is expected to be well attended. Our friend Dominique is so disgusted with the treatment he received at the late election, that he has made up his mind to leave this place, and betake himself back to Tapanui. Notices are out calling for applications for the office of "Town Clerk,' to be pent into the Mayor, on or before Monday next,
