Commercial.

MEBSBB WBIOHIT, STEPHEKSOK, AND Co. report for the week ending 25th July as follows : —

Fat Cattle. — 125 Jiead were yarded, but the greater part of them were little better than stores. About 80 head were sold to the trade, and the rest were turned out. Our sales consisted of 38 bead at, for bullocks, £8 10s. to £14 10s. ; and for cows £5 15s. to £9. Wo quote prime quality beef, 30s. per lOOlbs. ; medium do., 20s. to 225. 6d. We also sold privately 30 head, at £8 ss. per head, being equal to 275. 6J. per 1001b3. Fat Calves. — Only a few were yarded, which brought from- 255. to 40a. each. Fat Sheep. — A moderate supply came forward, and that niuinly of inferior quality. 750 were penned. We sold 150 merino wethers, poor quality, at 9s. Other sales were : 250 cross-breds, at 18s. to 19a., and 150 merinos, at 9s. The balance were turned out. We also sold privately 500 cross-breds, for delivery beginning of August, at; 3i-d. per lb. ; 50*0 do., dehverv end of August, at 4d perlb; 550 merinos, at 135.;150d0., atßs.; 1000 croflß-brecU, at from 16s. to 20s. each. We quote prime half-breds, 3|d. to 3 id. per lb. ; do. morinos, 3d.

Store Cattle. — We have onqumes.for grown cattle for delivery in September?^ There is but little business doing at present. Store Sheep. — Very few transactions have transpired in this class of stock. We sold 2100 merino ewes, in lamb to Leicester rams, st 6s each j and 1000 cross-bred ewes, in lamb, at 14s each. We have buyers for merino wethers, for delivery beginning of September. Country Saleß. — On Monday, 20th inst., we he^d-a sale of dairy herd at Green Island, on account of Messrs. Thomson and Thorburn. Good cows, in full milk, brought from £10 t« £11 10s j do. dry, from £5 to £9 } heifers, £4 10s to £6 ; yearlings, 40s. Horses. — The transactions thia week hayo been limited, sales "being chiefly confined to dealers' lots. Strong coach horses and heavy draught mares still keep in request. We quote first-class draughts, £70 to £80 ; medium do, £30 to £50 j«,good backs and light harness horses, £25 to £30 ; medium do, £11 to £15 ; light and inferior, £4 to £7-

Grain. — Wheat is in fair inquiry at from 4s 9d to 4s lOd for first-class-samples. Oats remain firm at previous quotations — say 4s 2d to 4s 3s' for good feed, and 4a 4d for milling samplosu
