Commercial.
Messes. Wright, Stephenson, and Coreport for the week ending 4th July, as follows '• — Fat Cattle. — There was an extremely full market, 165 head being yarded, of which 30 head, very inferior, were turned out unsold. Our sales consist of 56 head fair to good quality, on account of Messrs. Nichol, Wilson and Souter. Bullocks brought from £6 2s. 6d. to £15 (the latter price being for extra prime, fattened by Mr. William Souter, of Flag Swamp), and COW 3 from £4 15s to £7 108 per head — equal to 27s per 1001 b for prime quality, and 20s for middling ditto. We also sold privately 63 head at prices equal to 250 per 1001 b. Fat Shoep.— l,soo of all sorts were penned. We sold 200 half-breds, medium quality, at 12s 3d ; and 200 merino ewes at 6s. Other sales were 350 cross-breds at from 14s to 15s, and 350 merino wethers, medium quality, at 7a 3d. The rest were turned out. . We also sold privately, 330 merino wethers at Bs. We quote prime half-breds 3d per lb ; ditto merinos, 2£d. Store Cattle. — We have enquiries for well-grown cattle for paddock fattening. Our sales consisted of 89 head mixed cattle at £2 15s,
St6re Sheep. — Transactions in this class of stock are not numerous. We sold- 2,500 merino ewes, full-mouthed, at 5s 6d; 250 crossbreds, at 10s'; 150 do lambs, at 7s. We quote half -bred ewes, 13s to 15s ; do wethers, 10s to lls ; do. do. lambs, 7s to 7s 6d ; merino wethers, 6s 6d 5 do ewes, full-mouthed, 5s to 5s 6d.
Country Sales. — On Thursday we hold our monthly sale at Palmerstbn. There was a fair attendance of buyers, and all the stock yarded brought full rates* Fat cattle sold at from £5 ss. to £5 18s., equnl to 225. 6d. per 1001 b .; dairy cows, £6 to £7. On Friday we held our monthly sale at Waikouaiti. The attendance was large, and everything offered met with spirited competition. 70 head store cattle fetched 375. to £3 ; dairy cows, £4. to £5 55.; fat cattle, £8 to £9; 500 store merino wethers, 6s. 3d.
Horses. — Heavy draughts and strong coachers arc 'still in good demand. We sold on account of James Fulton, 355q., a draft of medium cart colts at from £25 10s. to £38 10s. ; also, on account of Messrs. P. and D. Grant, a draft -of light saddle horses at from £6 10s. to £20. We would call the attention of farmers and teamsters to a shipment of -YSipy superior jj,eayy drought .maxse ; and jeld-
ings to arrive by tfoa India, daily expected from Launceston, and which we will offer on arrival on account of Richard Symmons, Esq. We quote first-class draughts, £65 to £75 ; medium ditto, £35 to £45 ; good hacks and light harness horses, £25 to £30 ; medium ditto, £14 to £18 ; light and inferior, £4 to £8.
Wool. — By the Tararua," -via Hokitiia, -we have the following cable telegram, under date London, 20th June : — " Wool continues firm. The arrivals for next sales are over 130,000 bales."
Sheepskins. — At our Wednesday's sale there ■was a full attendance, -with active competition for all the lots catalogued. Prices obtained were as follow : — Butchers' green skins : iferinoes, 2s 6d to 2s 10d.; cross-breds, 3s 6d to 3s Bd. Dry station skins, Is 4d to 4s 6d, according to quality. Hides. — .Well-conditioned parcels are in request. We disposed of several lots, medium weights, at 17s to 19s each.
Grain. — There is no change" to report m the market, which remains quietly fijm. We quote wheat, prime samples, 4s 8d to 4s lOd per bushel ; inferior, 3s lOd to 4s ; oats, feed, 4s 2d to 48 3d ; milling, 4s 4d per bushel. POSTAL NOTICE.
