Mr Council stated that the only difficulty was the altering of the boundary of the goldfield, and that had L been got over by Mr Reid having said that it s would be sanctioned. The Chief Conamis 2 sioner said the matter affected a very large f territory— s,ooo or 6,000 acres — and he r thought one of tha runs being mort- ( ga^ed, that the mortgagee should be con- j suited. The latter was in England, and v nothing therefore could be done until his 1 conseut was received, as it would be nothing j less than tampering with the records. An- c other ttdug was, that the Governor's dele- c gate*, that is, the Provincial Executive, a would be required to be consulted as to the t alteration of the goldfield boundary. Mr s Reid said the alteration would be allowed, t and the matter was approved, but to stand c over until the mortgagee's consent is v obtained. , s The Chief Commissioner read some notes i he had set down with reference to the appli- g cation of Messrs Joseph Harding and Co., for o a site at tbe West Coast for a fish-curing a establishment, and for 5,000 acres of land for fi depasturing and other purposes.
