Sergeant Daly stated that he wished to bring before the Bench a circumstauce that occurred there last week, which resulted in the death of a man named Jerome Hushion, who attempted to cross the river on his horse, and was supposed at the time to be under the influence of liquor, but falling off was lost. No man in his right senses would have attempted such a thing. On the Sergeant being questioned as to the character of tlie applicant himself (who ex plained that Jerome Hushion was a very peculiar kind of man — any one not knowing him not being able to distinguish whether he was sober or not, and that he had seen the nan the same day at dinner time, when he was perfectly capable of conducting himself) he stated that he was a decent sober man.

The Bench then told the applicant that, although his license was granted this time, they, hoped that it would be a caution to him not to supply liquor at any time to drunken people. The above licenses were all granted conditionally that urinals and places of conveniency, for the accommodation of the public, should be erected at each house.

John Beighton's application for a bottle license was granted.
