The action is brought to recover £500 damages for alleged slander. A deputation waited upon his Honor the Superintendent to-day, to obtain assistance from the Executive towards establishing a Sailors' Home. After discussion, the old Immigration Barracks was decided on as a temporary local institution. The Superintendent stated that the Government woulil give every assistance to further the object.
