Since the receipt of telegrams regarding the damage to the French vines, brandies have been considerably run upon, and large sale's of all brands have taken place at advanced rates. Hennessy'a sold at up to 15s ; Martell's, 9a 2d ; Central Vineyard, 6s 9d. A further telegram states that Moet refuses further orders. New Zealand wheats are quoted at 6s Id to 6s 3d ; oats are very firm ; milling, 5s 7|d. There is good demand for sugars- Tobacco and candles are well traded at full rates. Sybney, May 14th. Mr. Farnell has been appointed Temporary Minister of Mines. Mrs. Ayton has been struck dead by lightning at Darlinghurst. Mr. Elder, of Glasgow, has sent to the Postmaster-General, the model of a California steamer, now being built, which will be capable of attaining a speed of 14 knots an hour. Brisbane, May 14th. The Abolition of Denominational Schoob has been carried in the Brisbane Assembly by a large majority. Adelaide, May 14th. The Assembly voted £1000 to Major Warburton. Owing to the alteration in Bank interest and discounts, there is not likely to be any tenders received here for the New Zealand Loan. ARRIVAL OF THE CITY OF ADELAIDE AT AUCKLAND WITH ENGLISH AND AMERICAN MAILS. Auckland, May 25th. The 8.8. City of Adelaide, Captain Brown, arrived shortly before eight o'clock this morning, with the English and American mails. She left Sydney on the 9th.
